The Formal Side
Wayne is a Registered Psychologist (CPBC #1431) in the province of
British Columbia. He is also a Registered Art Therapist (ATR #97-126), including
woodworking approaches, and Approved Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis, with the
American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH #R9072). His regular practice
operates under the name ACT-Healthwise Psychological Services. Wayne also works
with two medical and psychological rehabilitation companies, dealing with
issues such as depression, anxiety, anger, emotional trauma, pain, sleep
difficulties, family issues, and adjustment to problems such as
injury/amputation. As well, he teaches psychology courses to Master of Arts level
students.
The Informal Side
Wayne began his career as an elementary and high school teacher, and
then became a school guidance counsellor. He also coordinated Art Therapy for
children and adolescents. His students entered artwork in national shows, which
boosted their sense of achievement and prestige. Wayne then moved on to
intensive study in psychology, earning a Masters and then Doctorate degree. He
also studied clinical hypnosis and biofeedback in Chicago.
Wayne has lived in BC since 1998. He and his wife have two children.
Their daughter considers herself a "preteen," while their son enjoys
being a child. Wayne likes to spend whatever free time available (after dealing
with family and work) designing projects and going for walks/hikes. His wife
enjoys karate and piano. Not surprisingly, the kids do a variety of these
activities.
